Paddle a real, free-floating 20-passenger canoe (no motor, no track) around Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, and yes, you actually paddle. Daytime only, typically late morning to late afternoon, on a seasonal schedule.

How to do it right

  • Daytime only and weather/staffing dependent, if it's open and you've never done it, go
  • You will genuinely paddle; the cast members steer but the boat moves on guest power
  • The lowest-to-the-water view of the Rivers of America you can get, great look at Tiana's and Pirate's Lair
  • Skip if shoulder mobility is an issue

Best time to ride

  • As soon as it opens (often late morning); closes before evening
  • Check the app; operates seasonally

  • Big Thunder and the riverboat from water level

Accessibility

  • You need to transfer from a wheelchair or ECV to the ride vehicle
