Magic Kingdom Attractions Ranked

I've ridden everything at Magic Kingdom more times than I can count, and I rank it differently than the fan polls do. This list is based on how good the ride is, how long you'll wait for it, and who in your group will love it. It's current as of October 2026, which matters this year because a lot has changed.

What's Closed or Changed This Fall

• Walt Disney World Railroad: closed for refurbishment since September 28, 2026, expected back in November. When it returns it runs as a Main Street to Fantasyland shuttle, since the Frontierland station is walled off for construction.
• Carousel of Progress: closed since July 6, 2026. It returns in late spring 2027 with a new 1980s scene and new voices from Bryan Cranston and Jamie Lee Curtis.
• Tiana's Bayou Adventure: closes for refurbishment November 2 through December 2026. Ride it before November or plan around it.
• Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat closed for good on July 7, 2025 to make room for Piston Peak, the new Cars area in Frontierland. Villains Land is coming later too, with no opening year yet.
• Back and better: Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin reopened April 8, 2026, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopened May 3, 2026.

Must-do Tier

These are the rides I build a Magic Kingdom day around.

1. TRON Lightcycle / Run (Tomorrowland)

The fastest ride in the park. You sit on a motorcycle-style vehicle, launch outside under the glowing canopy, then race through the Grid indoors. The ride is short (about a minute of coaster), but it's the biggest thrill at Magic Kingdom. Height requirement is 48 inches, and there's a test seat out front if anyone in your group is a bigger rider.

How to ride: TRON is Single Pass only. It doesn't open during Early Theme Park Entry, so either be in line at official park opening or buy Single Pass.

2. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Fantasyland)

A family coaster with mine cars that swing side to side, plus a gorgeous indoor scene with the dwarfs singing in the mine. It's gentle enough for most 6-year-olds (38 inches) and fun enough for adults. The ride is short, and standby regularly runs 60 minutes or more.

How to ride: Single Pass, or make it your first stop during Early Theme Park Entry if you're staying at a Disney hotel.

3. Haunted Mansion (Liberty Square)

The best dark ride in the park, full stop. You ride a Doom Buggy through the stretching room, the ballroom with its dancing ghosts, and the graveyard finale. It's spooky fun, not scary, and most kids handle it fine.

How to ride: Multi Pass, or ride it late in the evening when waits drop.

4. Pirates of the Caribbean (Adventureland)

A boat ride through a pirate raid on a Caribbean town, with one small drop near the start. It's indoors, air-conditioned, and has huge capacity, so standby usually moves well. Captain Jack Sparrow shows up in a few scenes.

How to ride: Standby is almost always fine. Save Lightning Lane for something else.

5. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Frontierland)

Big Thunder spent most of 2025 and early 2026 closed for a major overhaul and reopened May 3, 2026 with new track, new trains, and a colorful new Rainbow Caverns scene. The height requirement dropped to 38 inches, so more kids can ride. It's still a smooth, fun mine train coaster with no big drops.

How to ride: Multi Pass, or rope drop Frontierland. Waits have been long since the reopening.

6. Space Mountain (Tomorrowland)

An indoor coaster in the dark, with sharp turns and quick dips under a sky full of stars. It's rougher than it looks, so riders with back or neck issues may want to skip it. Height requirement is 44 inches.

How to ride: Multi Pass, or the last hour before the park closes.

Excellent Tier

7. Tiana's Bayou Adventure (Frontierland)

Tiana's opened June 28, 2024 in the former Splash Mountain building. You ride a log through the bayou with Tiana, Louis, and Naveen, prepping for a Mardi Gras party, with original music and a 50-foot drop at the end. You will get wet. Height requirement is 40 inches.

How to ride: Multi Pass, and book it early because it's one of the first to sell out. Remember it's closed November 2 through December 2026.

8. Peter Pan's Flight (Fantasyland)

You fly in a pirate ship over London and Neverland. It's short and the ride is old, but the flying effect still charms everyone. The problem is the line: standby is often 60 minutes or more.

How to ride: Multi Pass, or Early Theme Park Entry.

9. Jungle Cruise (Adventureland)

An outdoor boat tour with a skipper telling corny jokes the whole way. Your skipper makes or breaks it. It's a good one for mixed-age groups, though the queue can get hot in the afternoon.

How to ride: Multi Pass on busy days, standby in the morning otherwise.

10. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin (Tomorrowland)

Buzz reopened April 8, 2026 after a refresh that replaced the fixed blasters with handheld ones, added a new robot sidekick named Buddy, and updated the targets and scoring. You still ride in spinning cars on a track and shoot at Zurg's targets. It's the best competitive ride in the park for families.

How to ride: Multi Pass, or mid-afternoon when the hype has worn off a bit.

11. Mickey's PhilharMagic (Fantasyland)

A 3D movie with Donald chasing Mickey's hat through scenes from classic Disney films. Air-conditioned, seated, and great for every age.

How to ride: Walk on most of the day.

12. Country Bear Musical Jamboree (Frontierland)

Reimagined in 2024 with the bears performing country versions of Disney songs. Short, funny, air-conditioned, and a good rest for tired feet.

How to ride: Walk on.

13. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover (Tomorrowland)

A slow, breezy tour above Tomorrowland, including a peek inside Space Mountain. Lines move fast and it's one of the best rest stops in the park.

How to ride: Standby. Don't waste a Lightning Lane on it except on the busiest days.

Good Tier

14. "it's a small world" (Fantasyland). A gentle indoor boat ride that every toddler loves. Waits stay short most of the day.

15. Under the Sea: Journey of The Little Mermaid (Fantasyland). A clamshell dark ride through the movie. Nice theming, easy for little kids.

16. Enchanted Tales with Belle (Fantasyland). An interactive show where kids get cast in the story and Belle tells a tale with an animatronic Lumiere. Little princess fans love it. Everyone else can skip it.

17. Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor (Tomorrowland). Live, improv-style comedy with the monsters. Kids love being picked for the jokes.

18. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Fantasyland). A cute, short dark ride. Great for toddlers.

19. The Barnstormer (Fantasyland). A tiny starter coaster (35 inches) that's perfect for a first coaster.

20. Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Classic spinners for little kids. Dumbo has two rings, so its line moves faster than it looks.

21. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room (Adventureland). Singing birds, cold AC, and a short show.

22. Swiss Family Treehouse (Adventureland). A walk-through treehouse with a lot of stairs. Quick, rarely has a wait.

23. Mad Tea Party, Astro Orbiter, and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Fine for kids who want to spin. Astro Orbiter has a slow-loading line, so ride it only if the wait is short.

24. Tomorrowland Speedway (Tomorrowland). Kids love driving their own car (32 inches to ride, 54 inches to drive alone). Adults tend to find it slow and loud. Rope drop it or skip it.

25. The Hall of Presidents (Liberty Square). Air-conditioned and patriotic, but low priority for most families.

Temporarily Closed

Walt Disney World Railroad (back about November 2026) and Carousel of Progress (back late spring 2027).

Don't Miss the Nighttime Shows

Happily Ever After is at 9:00 PM in early fall 2026 and moves to 8:00 PM after November 1. The Disney Starlight parade runs once nightly. Neither runs on party nights: Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs through October 31, and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party runs 25 nights from November 8 to December 22, 2026. On those nights Magic Kingdom closes early for day guests, so check the calendar before you pick your Magic Kingdom day.

A Sample Magic Kingdom Day

• Early Theme Park Entry: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, then Peter Pan's Flight
• Official opening: TRON standby (or use your Single Pass later)
• Late morning: Multi Pass returns for Big Thunder and Tiana's, standby for Pirates
• Lunch: Mobile order at Columbia Harbour House or Pecos Bill
• Afternoon: Back to the hotel for a break
• Evening: Multi Pass for Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear, then Happily Ever After

On a busy day this plan gets you the six must-dos plus a couple of excellent-tier rides. On a quiet day you'll get through most of the list.
