Disney Skyliner Complete Guide 2026: Routes, Hours, and Pro Tips

The Disney Skyliner is the best transportation Disney World has built since the monorail. It is free, it floats over the traffic that slows down Disney buses, and it connects four resorts to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios with no driving, no parking, and no waiting for a bus packed with strollers. If you are staying at a Skyliner resort, you will use it constantly. If you are not, it is still worth a ride.

Here is the practical guide: which resorts it serves, how the lines work, when it runs, when it stops, and the small tricks that make it better than the bus.

What the Skyliner Actually Is

The Skyliner is a gondola system that opened September 29, 2019. It is built by Doppelmayr, the same company behind many ski resort lifts, with cabins that slow down in each station so you can board at walking speed. Each cabin holds up to 10 guests. There is no operator in the cabin and no air conditioning, just vented windows, which matters in July.

It is free. You do not need a park ticket to ride, you do not need to book a time, and you do not need to be a Disney resort guest.

The Resorts and Stations

There are five stations: Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort (the hub), Disney's Riviera Resort, a shared station for Disney's Pop Century Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort, EPCOT's International Gateway, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The Three Lines

All three lines meet at Caribbean Beach.

• The EPCOT line runs from Caribbean Beach to Riviera, then on to EPCOT's International Gateway, which drops you near the France pavilion.
• The Hollywood Studios line runs nonstop from Caribbean Beach to the Studios entrance.
• The Pop Century and Art of Animation line runs from their shared station to Caribbean Beach.

What that means in practice:

• Riviera guests ride straight to EPCOT. For Hollywood Studios, they ride to Caribbean Beach and change to the Studios line.
• Pop Century and Art of Animation guests ride to Caribbean Beach, then change to either the EPCOT line or the Studios line.
• Caribbean Beach guests ride one line to either park. (Caribbean Beach is big, so depending on your building you may have a walk to the station.)

Changing lines at Caribbean Beach takes a couple of minutes: you exit one gondola and walk to the queue for the next line inside the same station.

To go between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, ride the EPCOT line to Caribbean Beach and change to the Studios line. The other option is the walking path or Friendship boat between EPCOT's International Gateway and Hollywood Studios via the BoardWalk area.

Operating Hours

The Skyliner generally starts running early enough for Early Theme Park Entry and keeps running until after the parks close. Hours shift with park hours, so check the current schedule in the My Disney Experience app. It does not go to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs.

When It Stops

This is the thing that surprises first-timers. The Skyliner pauses for lightning in the area and for high winds. Florida summer storms can stop it on short notice, and it can take a while to restart after the weather clears.

When the Skyliner is down, Disney runs buses from the Skyliner resorts to the parks. The buses work, but lines get long because everyone who would have flown is now waiting. If storms are in the forecast, build in a buffer.

The system also has occasional maintenance closures, which show up in the app ahead of time.

Strollers, Wheelchairs, and Ecvs

Strollers can ride with you in the cabin. Cast members may ask you to fold larger strollers.

Guests using wheelchairs and ECVs board through a dedicated accessible loading area where the cabin can be stopped completely. Tell the cast member at the station entrance that you need accessible boarding.

Service animals can ride in the cabin.

Practical Tips That Make a Real Difference

Use it for rope drop. If you are staying at Pop, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, or Riviera, the Skyliner usually gets you to the gate faster than the bus.

Avoid it in the first 20 to 30 minutes after the nighttime shows end at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. The lines get long. Grab a snack or a drink and ride back once the surge clears.

Look at the cabin wraps. Many gondolas are wrapped with Disney and Pixar characters. If your kids want a specific one, you can ask the cast member if you can wait for it.

Bring water and a handheld fan in summer. No air conditioning means the cabins can get hot while you are stopped.

You can ride just for the view. The trip at sunset, with views over both parks and the resort lakes, is one of the best free things to do at Disney World.

Does It Matter for Your Resort Choice?

Yes, more than people expect. A Skyliner resort makes EPCOT and Hollywood Studios days much easier. For a value resort, it is one of the biggest advantages Pop Century and Art of Animation have over the All-Star resorts. For a moderate, it makes Caribbean Beach more convenient for those two parks than Coronado Springs or Port Orleans.

If your trip is heavy on EPCOT and Hollywood Studios days, book a Skyliner resort, or look at the EPCOT-area resorts (BoardWalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin), which can walk to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios or take a Friendship boat. If your trip is heavy on Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom (no Skyliner service to either), the gondola matters less.
